FROM CHRISTA: Meet fellow Louisiana and Abingdon writer, Judy Christie whose second novel, GOODNESS GRACIOUS GREEN, will release in August.
About the series: Gone to Green, the debut novel by Louisiana writer Judy Christie, was released in 2009 by Abingdon Press. Goodness Gracious Green, second in the series, will be out in August.
About the author: Writer and consultant Judy Christie lives in Northwest Louisiana. She is the author of the Hurry Less, Worry Less nonfiction series (also Abingdon Press) and loves to help busy people slow down and enjoy each day more. “Hurry Less Worry Less for Families” comes out in May. This time of year she likes wandering around her yard looking for jonquils in bloom, hoping a bluebird will nest nearby and anticipating the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
The scene outside my office window here in North Louisiana is brown and gray. If I didn’t know better, I’d think winter had settled in for good. But a small vase of bright yellow flowers sits nearby, a signal that it won’t be long now …
The signs of spring — from early blooming trees to a flock of robins to two guys hitting softballs at the park – are everywhere. On a day like today, you have to look for the clues, but spring is definitely coming.
So it goes in our busy lives, when we may find it hard to slow down and savor the goodness each day brings. Huddled in a chilled frame of mind or waiting for a project to blossom, life may seem at times cold and bare.
But this time of year is a reminder of the power of hope in our hearts. The days we are dormant in spirit make way for days ahead when we burst out, with joy and creativity.
What a great time to step back and take a fresh look at how we spend our time and energy! We can search for subtle hints about good things ahead, clues that seeds we planted are, indeed, sprouting.
We wait for spring with anticipation and gratitude.
