Two steps + three ingredients = one ultimate recipe for the holidays

Just about the time the freezer and refrigerator are depleted of Thanksgiving leftovers, it’s time to start the Christmas food frenzy. Family+food=festivities. That’s the formula in our house during the holiday season.

But gathering in the kitchen isn’t just about eating the meals. While we’re sauteing, slicing, and dicing, we’re devising new recipes, reshaping old ones, and sharing stories. And even though all of this provides the stuff of which memories are made, there are a few moments of panic that can prove irksome. Like the doorbell announcing surprise guests or when you’re dressing for a party and remember you’d volunteered to bring an appetizer.

But no need to panic. Heinz and Ocean Spray have teamed up and, in less time than it takes you to find the container to put it in, you can walk in with the Ultimate Party Meatballs.

• 1 16-ounce can Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce
• 1 12-ounce bottle Heinz® Chili Sauce
• 1 2-pound bag frozen, pre-cooked, cocktail-size meatballs

Combine sauces in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Add meatballs. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.

Makes 30 appetizer servings.

Slow cooker Preparation: Place meatballs in a slow cooker. Combine sauces and pour over meatballs. Cover and cook 4 hours on HIGH.
