Dream Call: Part 2

{TIME OUT: Here I am, minding my own blog, getting ready to get ready to get to my new post, and darn if MSN doesn’t sabotage the attempt again. Come on, who could pass up this headline:“Can a shiny lip gloss slim your hips?” I’m thinking, not unless it makes the food slide right off of them…}
Part 2:

After I wore the first layer of skin off my pointer finger jabbing numbers on the cell phone to announce my new agent-ness, I allowed myself a slice of time to just, well, soak in the absolute blessed luxury of the experience.

The most amazing aspect of it all was how exceedingly humbled I felt when dream transformed into reality. How awesome it is to when God brings everything together, wraps it with love and tenderness, and places it in your hands, and says, “I’ve been waiting for the right time. Here is your gift.”

My family and friends who, over the years cheered me on, agonized with me, and tolerated my whining, were equally excited. Though, I’m sure a few of them will be sending thank you notes to Rachelle for saving them from a future of Allan-angst. My students, who shared the week of waiting with me, could not have been more delightful examples of support and cheer. [Funny thing, one person recognizes me as a writer, and now 125 of them are buying in as well.]

That next day, sharing my Rachelle call with them, I recognized how much I wanted for them what I felt that day. . .the grateful joy of waking up to find the dream has come true.I told them that if this could happen to me, it could happen to any of them. Any of them who will keep putting one foot in front of the other. Any of them who refuse to allow anyone to steal their dreams. Any of them who would not be content to hide their light under a barrel.

Long before Henry David Thoreau said, “If one advances confidently in the direction of one’s dreams, and endeavors to live the life which one has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” we had:“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

  1. Christa,

    I was thinking about you just the other day and wondering how you’ve been. I’ve been secretly hoping you’d turn your website into a blog where I could actually contact you and leave comments and whatnot. How thrilled to click over from the end of Mick’s post and find this new-to-me-at-least BLOG!! Yeah!

    My heartfelt congratulations on your ‘agentness’. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
